Congregational Vitality Pathway

RCA Farwest Region

Church Health in the Far West Region.

Evangelism is simply one beggar showing another beggar where to find bread. D. T. Niles

D. T. Niles’ definition of evangelism conveys the humbleness required to share the Gospel of Jesus. It also builds on the truth that when you find something good, you can’t help but share it with others. This quote is a good reminder that when it comes to sharing Jesus, there is more than enough bread for everyone.

The Far West Region Healthy Churches Team has found some good bread and we want to share it with all who are hungry. It called Congregational Vitality Pathway and we are finding it to be very useful and fruitful process for bringing health and vitality to our churches. So far, seven congregations in Cascades Classis, five churches in Central CA classis and one church in Rocky Mountain Classis have benefited from being on the Congregational Vitality Pathway.

Just one week after Easter, the Rocky Mountain Classis had their first Vitality Pathway Workshop: Veritas at Forest Ridge Community Church in Monument, CO. A long time member of Forest Ridge said, “This is just what our church needs at this time to help us move forward as a congregation.” Leaders from Our Savior’s Corner of Hope in Lakewood, CO also attended and they plan on hosting a Veritas Workshop in the fall.

A pastor from Central CA Classis said, “When I first heard about this, I really wasn’t interested. I’ve seen to many programmatic approaches to church health come and go. But as I learned more, I found this was exactly what I was looking for – a spiritual process for bringing life and health to my church. Thank you.”

Phil Assink and Steve Norman are co-leading this effort to help all churches in the Far West Region be healthy missional churches. By healthy we mean pursing Christ and by missional we mean pursuing Christ’s passions and purpose in the world. If you’d like to learn more and find out if this process is right for your church, feel free to contact Phil ( or Steve ( or check out our web site at
